WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL Although created in 1949, this space-age light remains remarkably contemporary to this day.
DESIGNED BY Jørn Utzon, famous in Australia for designing the Sydney Opera House.
Born in Copenhagen to a naval architect father in 1918, he studied architecture from 1937 to 1942 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen.
His work includes dozens of large-scale public works, such as Jeddah stadium in Saudia Arabia and the National Kuwait Assembly.
He has also designed numerous domestic buildings and furniture, lighting and tableware.
